Medical Device
A medical device is any instrument, machine, implant, software, or other article intended to diagnose, treat, prevent, or alleviate disease or injury in humans, and that achieves its primary purpose without relying on pharmacological, immunological, or metabolic action. Examples range from simple tools like bandages and tongue depressors to complex technologies such as pacemakers, X-ray machines, and artificial organs.
